What pressure washing does
Pressure washing, also called jet washing, uses a strong jet of water to lift dirt, algae, moss and weather staining from hard surfaces. It is the quickest way to bring a tired driveway, patio or balcony back to a clean, even colour. It also helps with grip, because a slippery green film is removed. In the UK, damp weather means many outdoor surfaces turn green within a year or two.
The UK data has 345 pressure washing jobs, the smallest service in the dataset. Most are bundled with indoor cleaning, so it works well as an add-on at the end of a bigger booking such as end of tenancy cleaning.
How pressure washing is priced in the UK
Pressure washing is priced per square metre at £3.50 per m2. The area is measured on the day, so the price follows what is actually cleaned. Two set prices cover common jobs.
| Job | Price |
|---|---|
| Pressure washing, per m2 | £3.50 |
| Driveway wash | £85 |
| Balcony | £20 |
Across the 345 pressure washing jobs, 99% had a per m2 line and the average area on those jobs was about 62 m2. At £3.50 per m2 that is about £218. Your own price depends on your own area. The final price is confirmed on the quote, with no deposit. See the pressure washing page and the prices page.
Across 326 pressure washing jobs since 2024 the median booking value was £388. Half of bookings came in between £279 and £537. This is the total for the whole booking, which often bundles several services, so it is higher than the starting price of a single item.
Median booking values include indoor cleaning booked at the same time. They come from one UK provider, not the whole UK market.
What you need to provide
The customer supplies water and electricity. The team brings the pressure washing equipment and products. Before the visit:
- Make sure an outside tap works and can be reached.
- Have a power socket available.
- Move cars, bins, furniture and plant pots off the area where you can.
- Mention any loose, cracked or delicate surfaces.
Which surfaces can be washed
| Surface | What to know |
|---|---|
| Driveways | Block paving, concrete and tarmac. Moss, algae and oil staining are the usual problems. |
| Patios and paths | Slabs and paving respond well. Soft or crumbling joints need care. |
| Balconies | A set price of £20. Good for removing grime and bird mess. |
| Garages and yards | Hard floors that collect dust and stains. |
Say if a surface is soft, painted, cracked or very old. High pressure can damage weak surfaces, so the approach is agreed before the work starts.
What is booked alongside pressure washing
Each bar shows the share of pressure washing jobs that included the line.
Share of the 345 pressure washing jobs in the UK data that included each line. Bundled jobs count under every service they contain.
Indoor lines are very common: bathrooms (80%), the kitchen (79%), living areas (77%), interior windows (77%) and bedrooms (76%). Carpets are in 46% of jobs, and balcony cleaning is separately recorded in 7%. See the deep cleaning guide and the after builders cleaning guide for the indoor side.
Pressure washing across the UK
The table shows the areas with the most pressure washing jobs since 2024. Prices are set nationally, so differences in the median mostly reflect the mix of extras booked in each place, not a different rate.
| Area | Jobs since 2024 | Median booking value |
|---|---|---|
| London | 128 | £367 |
| Bristol | 11 | £440 |
| Birmingham | 9 | £554 |
| Edinburgh | 9 | £350 |
Jobs by area
Only 4 areas have enough pressure washing jobs to compare, so these figures are indicative. London has the most jobs (128 since 2024). The areas include Scotland as well as England.
Only four areas have enough jobs to compare, and London dominates with 128 jobs since 2024. The other three have 9 to 11 jobs each, so their medians are indicative only. Pressure washing is priced by area, so booking values depend most on how many square metres are cleaned and what else is booked. See cleaning prices by city in the UK.
Best season for pressure washing in the UK
These are the shares of pressure washing jobs by month, using the full years 2024 and 2025.
April (11%) and February (11%) are the busiest months, and December (4%) is the quietest. The busiest ISO weeks across 2024 and 2025 were week 13 (late March) with 10 jobs, week 15 (early April) with 9 jobs, week 22 (late May) with 9 jobs and week 9 (late February) with 8 jobs (ISO weeks run from week 1 in early January to week 52 or 53 in late December).
Busiest days of the week
Friday is the busiest day (20% of jobs), followed by Monday (17%). Sunday is the quietest (6%). Most jobs start at 9am (55% of jobs), and 2pm is the second most common start (16%). See also busiest months for cleaning in the UK, busiest weeks to book cleaning and best day and time to book a cleaner.
February to May is the busiest period, with each month taking 10% to 11% of jobs. December is the quietest at 4%, followed by January at 5%. Spring is when many people clear winter moss and algae. You can wash in any season when it is not freezing, because ice and frost make the work harder and less safe. Winter and midsummer are easier to book.

- Friday is the busiest day.

How the numbers were calculated
Source: Hello Cleaners job records, 31,487 UK jobs, part of Hello Services Ltd.
The records cover jobs recorded between 2019 and 2026. This guide uses the 345 pressure washing jobs in that dataset. Prices and areas use jobs since 2024. Months use the full years 2024 and 2025. Days of the week and start times use all years. 2022 has almost no records and 2023 is partial, so no trends are compared across those years. 2026 is year to date.
The median is the middle value: half of bookings were below it and half above. It is the total of a whole booking, not a per-service price. The data comes from one UK provider and is not the whole UK market. See also Hello Cleaners in numbers, what customers book most and cleaning prices by city.
